It has been… too long!
Hi everyone!! Welcome back to BurbNChic. Did you come here to see what’s going on for Thanksgiving this year? Are you in need of some recipes, or outfit ideas? Maybe, I can help with your table setting? Either way, I have decided to bundle up all things Thanksgiving into one big MEGA post for you this year, (2019.)
I am stepping back into the hosting shoes and having the Bannon crew over this year, so naturally I go into full-on psycho mode. I don’t know about you, but I am somewhat of a perfectionist when it comes to hosting Holidays, even if it is just my mom, sister, dad, brother… ya know, the usual crew. I get very Martha Stewart, and have lists upon lists of things to be done! I am confident there are quite a few of you reading this right now, that are the exact same way and you are nodding your head in agreement.
Hostess Psycho’s UNITE!
I decided this year I would kick it up a notch. I can’t help but feel so adult-like now with all my new dishes from our Wedding Registry. We will talk about the closet I had to convert to fit all of our new glassware, later in this post. Keep reading!
I think people are one of two ways when it comes to table settings. You either get INTO it, or you don’t. For me, my sister and my mom… we thrive on a good theme. Last year for Thanksgiving, my sister did the most BEAUTIFUL, deep burgundy and forest green table setting with gold accents and rustic pumpkins. This year, I decided to step out of my comfort zone with this patterned tablecloth, and I created my whole color scheme around it. I did not want to go traditional Orange, red, or yellows, because I am in this weird phase right now where I am trying to go AGAINST any traditional Holiday colors. (Wait ’til you see what I did for Christmas.) Again, just a phase. I’ll probably go SUPER traditional color scheme next time, because THAT’S how I roll.
A lot of my items that you see here are from Home Goods or Hobby Lobby, so I will link similar items if you like the vibe. My plates and silverware are our new Everyday dinnerware that we use regularly, and we are obsessed. Kevin was not sold on the idea of black plates and flatware, but once we got them, he was hooked.
I would love to tell you that we get super Food Network crafty for our Thanksgiving meal, but we keep it super traditional. I feel like every year I try and step out of my comfort zone with one dish, and it usually goes fine. Last year it was Pumpkin cheesecake, and it happened. That’s all. However, this year..being that I’m hosting, I HAVE to focus on the bird, and the bird alone. PRESSURE. My sister cooked hers upside down last year, and we all loved it! So, I’m thinking upside bird is the way to go for me. And let’s get one more thing straight….. I make my mother come over to stuff it. That is just something I cannot get into. Sorry Mom!
I decided to share some of our recipe’s that we have made for the past few years now. A couple years back my mom was looking to spice up her stuffing recipe, and we found the most delicious one with apples and sausage. YUM! It is now a staple. We also love this DELICIOUS salad that my sister has been making for a lot of our get-together’s now. She originally made it for us last Thanksgiving and we are obsessed! So easy.

Converting my Closet’s…
So as promised above, I felt the need to explain my recently converted closet. I’m sure there are many of you reading this that struggle with finding space for your household items, much like myself. Once my registry items starting flowing in, I felt this panic for space. It was either we had to get a bigger house for all of our new glassware, or I had to get wildly creative with where to put it all! Since the “new house” idea didn’t smooth over well with Kev, I had to get creative.
I figured, there was just going to have to be some shifting in one of our many closets. All of our kitchen cabinetry was being used up, and I didn’t really love the idea of putting it on display in a big china cabinet. SOMEONE, except not me.. was going to have to give up some closet space. So there went all of Kevin’s snowboard coats, and all of my barely worn coats, into a storage container, into our crawl space. I put in some shelving and MOST importantly some sliders from Amazon for all of our brand new Wine, margarita, coffee, champagne…. glasses.
Best decision I have ever made. I was able to fit all of my things into one confined space, where only KYLIE is allowed to take anything out of, for fear Kevin will break every glass and dish that is so perfectly placed. If you’d like to know where I purchased my very inexpensive, glass sliders.. I have linked them HERE
Here’s the deal, I am going to get a little repetitive in the “Thanksgiving Outfit” department. YOU DO YOU. I feel like, every family is different when it comes to the severity of their Thanksgiving dinners. For us, we are so casual.. yet there is always me, trying to look chic AF. My dad, well he insists on wearing the same Half-zip sweatshirt and sweatpants every year, and I would be SUPER pissed if he ever wore something else. Do what you’re feeling but keep it expandable. NOBODY is looking to have to pop a top button mid-meal. Catch my vibe? This year I’m going in between, incredibly comfortable, but still a cute look. You can’t have it look like Hosting got the best of you, ya know?

Things I am also LOVING below.
And just like that, there ya have it! Thanksgiving with a bow on top. I hope this was helpful, or even just inspiring to switch up your Thanksgiving decor, recipe’s or looks. Always remembering to unplug, unwind, and enjoy!
