Hola Mi Amor!
We are back, we are bronzed, and we are rested! What an amazing get-away we had in Cabo San Lucas for our Thanksgiving. I know a lot of you have most likely followed it all via social media, but I am here to recap the important stuff for you.
Outfits, products, and places!
To say that I do not want to see chips and guac or a margarita for at least a week, is quite the statement coming from me. But WOW! We did Mexico in the most authentic way possible, with lots of food and tons of tequila. But for this post, I am going to walk you through our trip and I will try not to pause for too many stories on the way. If you have never been to Cabo, let this be your guide to a good time… If you have been to Cabo, then Vamos a la Fiesta!!
For our trip, we stayed at the Sandos Finisterra . This place was magical! Not only was the view surrounding the hotel absolutely stunning, but the location was truly perfect. Upon arrival, we were made to feel right at home, and the staff was super fun. The rooms were beautiful and full of accommodations. Sandos is an all inclusive resort, which personally, I enjoy for the sheer fact of getting chips and guac whenever I feel necessary… which on this trip, was all day everyday no matter where I was located.
They had the cutest little coffee/bakery shop located up top a rocky mountain with an INSANE view of the Marina. They really knew how to whip up an iced coffee! Honestly, the best part of the hotel, was the actual structure of the hotel. It was built into a mountain. All of the restaurants and rooms had a symbolism of rocks that made it feel very unique and made for beautiful ambiance.
One suggestion I do have if you ever find yourself staying here is to DEFINITELY have a spa day. Kev and I happened to celebrate our 8 year anniversary on this trip, so to do something nice for him, I booked us a couples massage. Kevin had never had a massage before so I figured it would be nice for him to have the experience, which was EXACTLY what we got. An experience. The spa at Sandos was simply sensational. They have the most calming atmosphere, and the softest voices….. HAHA! It was a dreamy day. They actually got mad at us when we wanted to leave and go to the pool bar. They want you to stay alllllllll day. I guess there could be worse things in life.
If you do ever make it to Sandos, go to the Whale Watcher’s Bar, and ask for Carlos. BEST BARTENDER EVER!
We made it a point to get to know a lot of the staff, which genuinely made for a better experience. We made fast friends with Carlos. He was the ONLY one at the resort who would make me a Jalapeño Margarita, and for that I am thankful. We also had Jonathan, our bell hop. Seems funny to make friends with your bell hop, but he told us the in’s and out’s of Cabo.. and gave us forewarning when where we were going was ONLY Spanish speaking. Ricardo at our favorite dinner spot, Tortuga Beach… He basically brought us the entire menu every night and always knew I was the only one in our group DOWN for desert.
We had a great experience at our resort. If you have any more questions on it, please ask! I am highly recommending.
Obviously, Vacations are for eating. Or is that just me that feels that way? Ha! Lets just say, I take full advantage of being in a place that appreciates Chips and Guac, and tacos, and margarita’s as much as I do on a day to day basis. We ate really well this trip.. no taco left behind was my motto. Here were my top 3 places:
It is true what everyone says about this place. It is FUN! We got here by water taxi, and instantly stepped off of the boat, onto the beach and our asses in a seat at our table. It was perfect. Food was AWESOME! Kev actually got me to like his fish tacos. (So they must have been REALLY good) And Meg and I thoroughly…… thoroughly….. enjoyed their margaritas. Mariachi bands right at your table,( Requested La Cucaracha every time) and Tequila shots straight from the bottle! What more could you want. This place is a MUST SEE tourist attraction.
Another great spot for good seafood(not that I ate any seafood), but I hear it was good, is Alexander’s. This joint is located right alongside the water in the Marina Area and had quite the hook with their table-side cooking. Actually, flame throwing is more like it… They had awesome, quick service and made super yummy caesar salads right in front of you. The dressing was made on the spot! It was really tasty. This is also a great spot for people watching as everyone comes down the boardwalk along the Marina.
Tortuga Beach- (Located at Sandos)
If you want awesome appetizers, this is your spot!! Bacon wrapped filet, and wonton shrimp. WOOOOO! Also, the ambiance was so breathtaking. Right on the beach with a beachy, white washed vibe with white sheet overhang. Very dreamy. We ate here multiple times on our trip. If you’re getting desert, request a shot of Chocolate Tequila and thank me later.
If you’re looking for a fun night on the town, or just an overall experience, check out Squid Roe .We just happened to get coaxed into this place and WOW were we in for a fun time. I actually tried to have an observant experience while there, and I quickly realized that there were no rules. I mean none…. If you want to take your clothes off and bartend, NOBODY WAS GOING TO STOP YOU. But don’t let this scare you. My clothes stayed on, it was just a metaphor.
** If you’re traveling with your significant other and your not the jealous type…. have one of their Shot girls give your guy a jello shot, accompanied by a Nipple squeeze, an ass grab, and motorboat ending! (Hilarious!!)
This time around, I was very adamant on getting sun the right way. If you are an anti-sun exposure person, then I apologize.
I think the best decision I made for this trip was tanning prior to. As an Irish girl, one lick of good sun turns me into a sugar coated strawberry in no time flat. However, while we were in Mexico, I was wise about which products I used and stay consistent throughout. So let’s get started!
I would say the best thing I did, the first 3 days on the trip.. was I used an SPF30 all over my body, and re-applied every hour. We had full intention of being in the sun all day, everyday, so we all kind of used this protective method. Then I took a day, where I had no product on at all. This was a day we saw less sun, so I knew a little exposure would be good for my skin. The last two days, I proceeded with the oil. Bali Body to be exact. (as pictured above) I have a few of their products, and I am super obsessed. I used their Cacao Body Oil during the day, and then at night, before I applied makeup, I used their Bronzing Lotion . This is a recipe for success if you love having a glowy look while on Vaca.
Most importantly, to reduce or eliminate peeling, I would lather myself in COCO Shea Butter Lotion, every night. The same lotion I talked about in this post! It’s a coconut dream, and it was the perfect scent for Mexico. But most importantly, NO PEELING! A success.
If you want to beef up the glow, I also applied some Kopari BodyGlow to my entire body. Kev kept telling me how shiny I was… in a good way. He was very enamored by it. He says shiny, but he means I have a “glow.”
ALWAYS, ALWAYS on vacation, I keep my makeup simple. You have to. I always find on vacation I NEVER want to get ready. Light, easy makeup is my jam. I have attached the exact products I used every night while on our trip. I did no makeup during the day for sunning reasons. Check out my favorite products currently:
What I Wore…
Saved the best part for last. I had so much fun shopping for this trip. I knew I would be living in swimsuits and coverups, so I really went all in on those items this time around. I figured, let’s just have fun with it! I genuinely feel like most of these items I got for a steal, just given the time of year. If you are going on a vacation for the Holidays, these items are so fun. Let me tell you, it became a fun game to see how many compliments I would get a day on my outfits. Really fun, vibrant, beachy vibes. People dig that shit!
I will say no more and let you take a look!
Wish Me Luck!
