Hello LOVEly.
Here we are, the LOVE issue of BurbNChic. Valentine’s Day comes once a year, so I like to wrap it up in one little “LOVE Issue” post for you guys. Today we are talking about Valentine’s Day, 3 different ways. Personally, I always work on the Holiday, so the way Kev and I celebrate is the furthest thing from elaborate. However, I am also a very simple person when it comes to this Holiday. I love a gesture, like flowers.
(Or heart shaped Donuts)
Sometimes I think ‘we’ as social media enthusiasts can get wrapped up in what everyone else is doing for Valentine’s day. It is so easy to drool over what everyone else is doing to celebrate or the gifts they are receiving… but in reality, this holiday should be geared towards what you two love doing together. What is your favorite way to spend a special day together? Trying so hard to recreate what someone else is doing, or putting pressure on how perfect the entire day should go will most likely ONLY result in a let down. Take my advice from personal experience.
I genuinely feel if you asked Kevin or myself what our ideal day would be, spent together, we would say laying around watching movies and cuddling our dog. But for us, that works. It makes us so happy! We laugh, we bond over movies or tv shows, and we definitely bond over an unhealthy meal and some wine!
So let me set the scene of 3 different ideal Valentine’s Day plans. Outfits for each type of day/date, and of course, gifting idea’s!
Fancy
Let’s be really honest, what girl doesn’t love to dress up, throw on some lipstick and go to a nice dinner? I’ll wait…….
I truly feel that a great dinner spot, where you have to get a special reservation, potentially wait at the bar and have a glass of wine together with dim lighting is the perfect way to turn on the romance. This type of setting is automatically romantic and takes care of having to try too hard to set a scene. And ladies, don’t WAIT for the guy to make this happen. This is a 50/50 holiday, so if you want this type of celebration for Valentine’s Day, then make the reservation and set the scene. Let him pick up the tab;)
Outfit Idea for a FANCY Night Out:
Casual
Are you more of a “Our usual spot” type of couple? We are. Kev and I love to stick to our surrounding 5 favorite restaurants where we know what we like, we love them all for different reasons, and we recognize the staff! Maybe your usual spot is not a fancy spot. Ours is not! Some nights you just don’t want to make a fuss out of having to choose where to go, or potentially have to fight a crowd. If this is your style, then roll with it. These are the places that you have held good conversations, shared a damn good meal, and maybe even had one too many margarita’s. This is your happy place, the hole in the wall restaurant with a good burger that you both enjoy!
Outfit Idea for a CASUAL Night Out:
Relaxed
Do you ever find that you and your partner bond over being lazy together? There is something about having a cozy night in, picking a new movie to watch and potentially getting takeout. Not having to make a fancy dinner, or get dressed up is my idea of a magical night! The thing is, if you both have crazy schedules and are workaholics, then a relaxed night together is almost more romantic than a fancy night out. No pressure to make the night super out of the norm because you both know that you just want to relax in your sweats and enjoy each other’s company.
Outfit Idea for a RELAXED Night In:
Gifts
I will not say too much about gifts for Valentine’s Day. Some people love to go all out, some people keep it simple, some don’t give gifts at all. Once again, you guys do you on this Holiday. I will say ladies, don’t ever expect something elaborate. The let down is real!
