Hey World, Meet Banks!
You guys, so much has recently happened in my life, I actually do not know where to start. WHAT A WHIRLWIND!
So if you’re not following me on snapchat or Instagram stories, then you are naive to the fact that Kevin and I are officially parents. This little fluff you just scrolled past is our new little love bug, Banks. A golden-doodle! Not only do I have stories upon stories ALREADY about Banks, but I also have SO many questions to current dog owners. Asking for a friend…….
Side note, if any of you are in the Chicagoland area and looking for a good Golden-doodle breeder, ours was AMAZING. I would be happy to give anyone her info.
Getting back to it though, I can honestly say there are so many things we have learned to do with the dog, and what NOT to worry about with the dog. Here are a few things;
Necessary things for a puppy:
- Routine in the morning and night
- Training treats for EVERY good thing they do. Banks is currently loving These .
- Lots of opportunity to roam freely. (In the yard or a designated room in the house)
Things you THINK you need or should do, but Don’t:
- 500 different chew toys. They want to chew on empty water bottles, and shoes, and you. NOT a stuffed Avocado from Target
- Cute little puppy pillow for them to lay on. They would rather get lay on the ground, or under the couch
- Oh, you got them a leash? Thats cute… more like a chew toy! No walks will be had until they are older. Shelf it!
I will say however, we have 110% made the right choice when choosing this breed. It was not easy at first, being that I have always had fluffy cute little lap dogs my entire life growing up. Kevin was brought up with big labs his entire life. Neither are wrong, but now that Kevin and I are officially joining forces, we had to join opinions too. I got my fluff ball, and he got his big dog. My only stipulation was that she was small to start. And OH MY GOSH, was Banks a peanut when we picked her up! I tried to keep it cool with our breeder when Banks first came running around the corner for us to take to her home. But we were both instantly a puddle on the floor. It was kind of like a movie with a slow motion running scene towards each other. Banksy’s ears flapping in the wind running towards me and Kev.
*Ladies I will tell you one thing…. If you want to know what kind of father your significant other is going to be, get a super cute fluffy puppy.
At first, I was very unsure of how Kevin would be with a new puppy. I never doubted him, (I know you’re reading this Filotto) but I just wasn’t sure of how much patience he would have with watching her every move. Luckily our schedules could not be better, where someone is always home for this sweet fluff. And to be completely honest, he has been WAYYY more patient than me. I may or may not have cried with her scratching and puppy playing….constantly…..always…..around the effing clock. Puppy nails hurt you guys!
Another thing Kev and I could NOT agree on with #puppygate was a name for our baby paws. This started back on our Filotto Family snow trip. We had equally agreed on the name “Nixon.” But you guys…… we were a mess with the names leading up to the day!! We went from Nixon, to Roomi. Then it was Rio, and somewhere, somehow “Banks” fell out of thin air not even 12 hours before we picked her up. It was going to be Susan… because Kevin and I are assholes and we thought it would be funny. Kidding, but not really. I mean who names their dog Susan in 2017? Sorry if you have, but honestly… I salute you.
Let me tell you though, Banks could not be more fitting for this animal. We didn’t want anything too girly, like Shmoopsy, or Fluffy Balls.. I wanted something a little bit more tough but still cute? Banks felt badass to me, kind of sweet but definitely a hard ass on the inside, and Boy! did we frikken nailed it with that definition. She is a tough cookie, but then she will sit down and just look at me, and all of my disciplining goes out the window, and it turns to, “WHO’S THE CUTEST DOG IN THE WORLD?” voice.
Naturally, as a shopaholic, I have found some SUPER CUTE dog supplies. I mean people think of just about everything these days when it comes to dogs and puppies. It’s actually kind of crazy, but Hey! They’re making a good buck off of me thats forsure!
Check out below some of the items I currently am working with. Seriously though, this dog tag pendent was spot on! OBSESSED!
