Here We are.
We have officially arrived at our FIRST Wedding Planning Post! It honestly has been a long time coming, but Summer is so busy I have just now gotten to it! I want to jump right in because I cannot wait to tell you guys how we asked our Bridal Party to join us on our Big Day!
This idea came to me on a whim, randomly one day. I must be honest, I am going to be a complete Bridezilla when it comes to the creativity of my Wedding. This is the frikken Super Bowl of creative Bash’s for me, so I’m going to take it and run as far as I can with it! I sat and debated for days, maybe even weeks about how Kevin was going to ask his groomsmen.
It’s funny, we decided our Bridal party on our drive home from our Engagement (11 months ago.) To us, it was a no-brainer who would stand up with us on our big day… it maybe took a total of 3.5 minutes to have the discussion. What can I say, we have a close knit group of ride or die’s.
I knew almost instantly how I wanted to ask my bridesmaids. I have never stood up in a Wedding, but I channeled myself, and what I thought would be a cute way to be asked, and I went with it. I am a basic bitch, so think with a basic bitch brain? I went back and forth for Kevin however. He was so adamant that he just take his friends to a bar and casually ask them in between swigs of beer. THAT’S A LARGE LARGE NO FROM ME FILOTTO! My creative brain was NOT having that. So naturally, I took over the entire operation, which makes his cards for his groomsmen that much more funny, because it couldn’t be more spot on. Let’s just say, the entire thing was more than a success. This has made all of the Wedding sitch seem officially real, and happening!
Let me show you how we did it….
What was something that everyone could have, they actually like, and will use for the duration of our Wedding events? Jean jackets, duh!? Obviously a couple of things entered my mind when forming this idea. We can all wear these AT the Wedding/Rehearsal Dinner if it gets chillier at night time. Jean jackets are all the basic bitch rage right now. AND, how cute will the photo’s be?
More quickly than I said Yes to Kevin, I was shopping for the most perfect, oversized jean jacket for all my girls. Then, luckily, with a super crafty, creative mom, the rest was in her hands. My mom hand painted every letter for every jacket including mine, and I must say, she may have a business venture.
I had so much fun designing the entire look. The boxes, the cards. I wanted it all to be fun, but to the point. For myself personally, I didn’t feel like I needed to buy into all of the bridesmaid gear. The only reason I say that is because 2/4 of my Bridesmaid have been in MULTIPLE Wedding’s already. They have the Bridesmaid tumbler, and tank top and all of the above. I took this as a challenge!
The black glossy boxes were so chic, and left a lot to the imagination. I could tell by the reaction that nobody had any idea what it might be when I first handed them the box. Which I loved!! I received a genuine reaction once the box was opened. I wanted it to be about the jacket, which it was.. so very little fluff went into the rest.
Are you guys ready to meet the “I do Crew?”
Matron of Honor- Steph
The eye behind BurbNChic had to step IN FRONT of the camera for this one. Role reversal at its finest. My sister from the SAME mister, Steph will be my Matron of Honor. Let’s just say one thing, I just learned the difference between Maid and Matron of Honor. I know, I am a Wedding amateur.
and for the Bridesmaid we have….
Jen Filotto- Kevin’s Sister (Future Sister in Law)
Megan Matichak- The friend of ALL friends
Kaityn Crowther- My Cousin
(We put up with the same CRAZY Family together, Happily)
I must say, I could not have timed all of the girls receiving their boxes any better. Somehow, I managed to get them their jackets all on the same day. This made it so much better! I didn’t have to worry about people posting on Social Media because they pretty much all received them within an hour or two of each other. Perfection!
The reactions were priceless. I am such a gift giver, that I was busting at the seams for the girls to open these. I had them for MONTHS all completed, stowed away in my closet. So now that they have them, I am relieved and excited!
If you love this idea, here is the EXACT jacket that I bought for all of my girls. I wanted it to be loose fitted, and vintage looking so yes, it is in fact a Men’s Jacket. Take a peek!
As for the rest of the items I used to complete my Bridesmaid Box, I have linked it all below!
I want to repeat one more time, that I really sat and pondered on what Kevin could do to ask his Groomsmen to be in his Wedding. We went through a ton of ideas until we landed on one we could both agree on.
It started with the idea of getting everyone a nice bottle of alcohol, and it escalated into customized tequila bottles. Thanks to Etsy I found a girl to make the most perfect custom Patron labels and the rest is history. I found it to be simple yet memorable for the guys. They could drink it and save the bottle or not drink it and save it but either way they would remember our special day.
Without further or do, I present to you our groomsmen!
Fun, right? I loved the idea.
Now you will notice that we have 5 groomsmen and only 4 Bridesmaids. This is not a mistake, we can count. Most of you know, but for those of you who do not, my brother Rylan is currently drafted with the MLB. We ran into a huge dilemma when he was unable to make it to my sister’s Wedding only days before we left. He is currently working his way up through the system, so he is in no position to take time off. My best way of handling this was to make him a fifth groomsmen, and give him a SPECIAL role in our Wedding if he is able to make it! You will have to stay tuned to see what I have in store for his role in our Bridal Party.
How SPOT ON are these cards though? It is so true, I MADE him do this. But once again, just like the interior design of our home… everyone loved it and Kevin credited me. What can I say? At least he is fully aware of the psycho he is marrying. Ha!
If you love these cards, and relate to them as much as I do, I have linked them below!!
Wow. There we have it! The first step in our Wedding journey. Now that we have our crew, the real planning can begin. AKA, the Bachelor/Bachelorette parties! I can guarantee there will be posts to follow on anything and everything Wedding!
